CPA test prep for MTax students
The value of a master’s degree is not earning the degree itself, or even landing you the next job after you graduate. Real value comes from a degree that will elevate you throughout your career. For those who study accounting, the CPA is a logical certification.
Thanks to a W. P. Carey partnership with industry leader Becker CPA Review, you can access a suite of CPA exam prep materials, even before your first class, and at no additional cost! That means you can prepare for and pass the CPA exam while still enrolled in the master’s program, making you a more competitive applicant for opportunities in the short term and providing you a great foundation for the rest of your career.
Once you are admitted to the W. P. Carey program, you can register for Becker CPA Review materials. After creating a profile and completing an initial assessment, Becker’s platform will factor in the exam dates, number of days you can study, and an assessment score to establish a unique and customized study plan. You’ll also receive additional preparation with three Professional Responsibilities courses throughout the program.
The Professional Responsibilities courses will advise you on which practice questions to review, which videos to watch, and how many hours per day you should study. Your study program will update within Becker’s online platform based on your performance throughout the course. You will also receive performance insights to uncover areas of improvement, while also providing professors with tools to monitor your progress.

The W. P. Carey program fulfills the educational requirements to sit for the CPA Examination. The CPA designation is not critical for all accounting career paths, but becoming a CPA could be advantageous in the accounting profession. CPA requirements are set by each state, and all states require a minimum total of 150 credit hours. Students are encouraged to review the requirements of the state(s) in which they intend to seek a CPA license. Each state has a board of accountancy that can provide this information. Visit the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) for additional information.
